i'm so happy. remember the wedding photography i attended last week? i thought that i wasn't able to take a good shot. it was so frustrating to take a picture and saw the sharp shadow because you're only using a built-in flash. that was what happened to me.

so, imagine my surprise when i was told that i have quite a few pictures that are good enough. that, for me, is an achievement. it was my first time to do the professional way of taking wedding pictures. of course, i was advised to buy an external flash and simplify the composition.

i had fun at the wedding photography workshop last friday. i learned so many things, but sadly, out of more than a hundred pictures i took, there isn't a good picture. it's not the instructor's fault, though; it's all mine. i don't have an external flash, thus there are dark shadows in my pictures. so, next on my list is to buy a good external flash.







the good news is they are planning to hold another wedding photography workshop. this time, i'll make sure that i have the necessary paraphernalia, such as diffuser and reflector.

i attended a product photography workshop in sharjah last saturday. i didn't know that the setup is so elaborate. lights and diffusers were set up. our facilitator told us that in a professional photo shoot, it takes three hours to set up for a single product alone. the other facilitator showed us how to improvise on some equipment, like instead of using a soft box, we can use an ordinary box with wax papers.










since we don't have a workshop this weekend, i'll try to study how to process RAW files and brush up my basic Photoshop skills.

i know i've been slack in keeping up with this blog. oh, i do log in everyday, but only to check if there's an interesting post among my livejournal "friends."

then, there comes my renewed interest in photography.

yup, i'm a frustrated photographer. one of the reasons peter parker is my favorite among the superheroes, say clark kent, is his camera. now that i'm learning the ropes in photography, i decided to post my pictures online... a sort of online photo portfolio.

at first, i was thinking of opening an account at another blog site. a fellow photographer enthusiast posts her pictures there. and being a non-active blogger, i'm not sure if i can do the same here. then i realized that opening another account might complicate my internet life. so, i decided to stick with livejournal and see how everything goes.

yup. i didn't realize that i've been living here in dubai for more than five months. and it has been a roller-coaster ride. one time you're up and happy, the next you're so depressed. they say it takes time to get used to living in another place. and they were right, of course.

so, what's happening here in the desert? aerosmith will have a concert at the end of the month. but i have no plans to see it. much as i want to watch it, i have no stamina to brave the heat. and with the expected attendees, i would rather stay home and go online.

yup, heat controls my life. i came from the tropics, but at least, the heat there is bearable. here? it's dry and hot. and they told me it will get worse in the next few months. it's so hot that i'm thinking of skipping the launch of a cosmetic product tonight. i'm sending our photographer there anyway, so i think i won't be missed. and i don't know anything about make-up and fashion. so no harm done.
